Money is any item or verifiable record that is generally accepted as payment for goods and services. Hence we are ascribing value to the symbol “$" as the unit for measuring the quantity of money. Historically a barter system was used as a system of exchange goods and services. But I can imagine that one person may not always want the things being received in exchange.
